FinTech Intel is preparing for Money20/20

Here are some highlights we’re looking forward to

Money20/20 is fast approaching – indeed, there’s less than a week until the conference’s European event begins in Amsterdam. 

With some of the biggest fintechs from across the world attending, and thousands of guests, it’s sure to be an incredible event. 

The FinTech Intel team will be there, and we’ve pulled together five speakers and panelists we’re particularly excited to hear from. 

All times are in CEST. 

François Hollande 

The former French president will be having a fireside chat with Money20/20’s own Scarlett Sieber. 

Hollande is credited with introducing policies that have help France become a global fintech hub. Whether it’s the creation of Station F or the French Tech initiative, subsequent governments have kept his ideas in place and allowed the country to become a global leader in fintech. 

We’re excited to hear him share his insights from a long and illustrious career at the highest levels of government.

Barbara Baarsma 

As well as being chief economist at PwC Netherlands and the head of PwC’s chief economics office, Baarsma is also professor of Applied Economics at the University of Amsterdam. 

She’s part of a panel titled The Ecosystem Advantage – Partnering for Transformation, which is centered around how banks cannot transform on their own, and must partner with newer, more agile entities to avoid being left behind in the fintech ecosystem.

Aruna Bhalla 

Aruna Bhalla is head of partnerships and open banking at TSB Bank. She’s taking part in a fireside chat titled Life in a Bank Accelerator: Fast Track to Success or False Start? 

When it comes to joining an accelerator, compromises have to be made. Whilst a startup fintech will always welcome being invited to one, it’s important to remember that both sides have interests they wish to represent. 

Bhalla will speak to these from the side of a bank, giving insights into her thought process when it comes to accelerators.

Ian Glasner 

Appearing on a panel titled Economy of Intelligence: Generative AI Use Cases In Financial Services, Glasner will share his expertise as head of innovation and ventures at HSBC. 

AI is becoming more and more prevalent in all aspects of life, particularly in fintech. With fintech organisations being at the forefront of innovation, AI cannot be disregarded. 

However, as well as operational concerns, there are ethical ones that need to be considered. This panel will present use cases showing how AI can be used successfully, and ethically, in financial institutions.

Lucy Demery 

Enviornmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is here to stay. With companies in all industries becoming more and more switched on to it, ESG data is becoming more and more available. 

But how much data is too much? And what can be done with it? 

Demery, managing director of fintech at Barclays, is speaking on a panel titled Disclosed for Business: Which ESG Metrics Matter the Most? which tackles just this problem. 

She’ll discuss how ESG reporting isn’t just a regulatory requirement anymore, but another business function providing invaluable data that will allow companies to thrive.
