The new category will celebrate the innovations and achievements of PropTechs across the UK
The UK FinTech Awards are back for 2025, and they’re going to be bigger and better than ever before.
All the categories that were open for nominations in 2024 are returning, and a new one has been added for 2025: PropTech of the Year!
PropTech of the year celebrates PropTechs that are really making a difference in the property sector. It showcases those companies that are doing things differently in order to drive results in the sector. Companies that enter this category won’t be resting on their laurels, and will be striving for excellence in everything they do.
Property is a sector as old as time. Humans will always need shelter and will always be on the hunt for the best place to live. Property will never not be in demand.
But one of the problems with an old sector is that, often, there’s a risk of people being stuck in their ways. After all, if it isn’t broken, why fix it? Why pour time and money into something that’s just fine?
Perhaps because just fine isn’t good enough?
This category celebrates those companies who want to strive for more. They want excellence for everyone involved in property, whether it’s owners, renters, property management companies, construction companies, or anyone else.
This category celebrates those that are facing PropTech challenges head on:
Challenges in communication
One of the biggest challenges in PropTech right now is communication, or a lack of it.
With so many people involved in property, it can be hard getting hold of the person you need to. Especially when dealing with smaller companies, where one person might be juggling a multitude of roles and wearing many hats on a day to day basis. This award might be won by a company that’s shaking things up and facilitating better communication lines between companies that work closely together.
Wrangling with data
Another major issue facing PropTechs right now is data, and more specifically a lack of it. There are currently no data standards which property companies must adhere to. This especially impacts companies dealing with renters and tenants; they want to provide the best service possible, but they don’t know who they’re dealing with and so find themselves unable. This award might be won by a company that’s working on solving the data problem, collecting and analysing data that allows property companies to improve the lives of people living in their flats and houses.
Can PropTech leverage artificial intelligence?
As well as challenges, however, there are a huge number of opportunities in the PropTech sector. One of the biggest is AI, and how PropTechs can exploit it to make both their lives, and the lives of those they work alongside, easier.
There’s a fear in PropTech that AI is going to take jobs, but this is not the case. AI in PropTech, like in all industries, is there to work with people, to make their jobs easier and more efficient. One of the ways AI can be used, for example, is in data – assuming PropTechs can get it!
AI can be used to analyse data – it can review large datasets much more efficiently and effectively than a person can, providing insights and recommendations that can be used to improve things for everyone involved in property, whether it’s renters, landlords, construction companies, or anyone else. This award might be won by a company at the forefront of AI integration.
