The point of sale solution will enable on-the-go payments on smartphones

UK-based payment provider emerchantpay has chosen Rubean AG, a German-based fintech, for its software point of sale (SoftPOS) solution tailored for Android devices.

This collaboration equips emerchantpay’s partners and merchants with Rubean AG’s PhonePOS solution, to integrate into their existing Android app, to enable swift and secure on-the-go payments on smartphones.

A SoftPOS solution offers low upfront costs and ease of use with a familiar device. The number of merchants using SoftPOS solutions is set to rise globally to 34.5 million by 2027, research from Juniper predicts

In an email interview with FinTech Intel, Jon Horddal, group chief product officer at emerchantpay, said: “Simplifying the checkout process is going to be a big trend next year and into the future.”

He highlighted the growing customer demand for convenience and stressed that the ultimate winners in the market will be merchants that offer an easy solution that just works, no matter how customers pay. Horddal also emphasised the importance of versatile payment solutions that align with customer preferences.

Horddal continued: “The SoftPOS offering is attractive to businesses who seek flexibility for payments that must happen on the go. Another benefit is the elimination of additional hardware and the improvement of customer experiences. We are excited to be offering a solution that is integral for the future of mobile payments.”

Hermann Geupel, chief executive officer at Rubean, said: “Together, we are enabling businesses to tap into the world of mobile payments with PhonePOS and reach new heights of growth.”
