Phil Knight will oversee group technology, information technology operations and information security, globally

The Bank of London, a new clearing bank, has appointed Phil Knight as group chief technology officer and group chief information security officer. 

Knight will oversee group technology, information technology operations and information security, globally. The London-headquartered bank also has offices in New York and Belfast. 

He joins The Bank of London from 10x Banking, where he spent three years as chief information security officer. During his time there he was responsible for production operations, led the security operating model and oversaw the global engineering team.  

Previously, Knight held roles at Lloyds, working in infrastructure, security and architecture, and provided digital and technology advice in consultancy roles. 

Jim Ditmore, group chief operating officer of The Bank of London, said: “Phil has an excellent background across banking, fintech, and consultancy, including global leadership roles specialising in digital security and infrastructure architecture.  

“Phil’s deep experience and leadership will strengthen our team as we enter a phase of driving significant technological transformation in the banking, payments, and financial services sector.”

The Bank of London launched last year. With a $1.1b valuation, it claims it is the first pre-revenue bank in history to attain unicorn status. 

It aims to assist governments, financial services companies and non-financial brands to launch fully compliant products and services in-country and across borders.
