Floris de Kort appointed chief executive officer and Peter De Caluwe promoted to deputy chairman

Thunes, a B2B cross-border payment company, has appointed Floris de Kort as its new chief executive officer and promoted Peter De Caluwe to deputy chairman.
De Kort, former chief executive officer of global ecommerce at Worldpay and TSG, will be based in Singapore at Thunes’ global headquarters.
In his new role, De Caluwe will focus on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and expansion into key markets, including China and the Gulf countries.

Founded in 2016, Thunes facilitates payments in 80 currencies across 133 countries, using more than 300 payment methods, including mobile wallets like PayPal and M Pesa, gig economy giants like Uber and Deliveroo, and super-apps like Grab and WeChat.
De Kort commented on his new role: “I’m delighted to join Thunes to scale and accelerate growth. We are laser-focused on helping our customers create opportunities for cross-border payments across emerging markets and segments.”
De Caluwe said: “Many years ago, in different companies, I used to compete with Floris. I am pleased to team up with him now, combining our skills to better position Thunes as the market leader.”
