Volt gears up for growth with new CMO

Volt, a UK-based payments platform, has appointed Irina Chuchkina as its first chief marketing officer. In her new role, Chuchkina will spearhead the global marketing strategy and build on the company’s global expansion plans.

Chuchkina joins on the back of the company’s $60m series B funding in June 2023, the appointment of ex-Stripe European chief executive officer Matt Henderson as a special advisor, and Volt’s expansion into Australia.

Founded in 2019, Volt’s payments gateway allows merchants to process transactions between accounts at 5,000 banks in the UK, the EU and Brazil.

Bringing more than 18 years of experience in payments across Europe and Asia, Chuchkina joins Volt from Thunes, a Singapore-based payment infrastructure platform.

Prior to Thunes, Chuchkina held roles at payments scale-up Rapyd, Southeast Asia’s super-app Grab and Visa. She has also served on the board of the Singapore FinTech Association.

Commenting on her new role, Chuchkina said: “I firmly believe in the transformative power of real-time payments. Over the next few years, they will disrupt the status quo and reshape the payment ecosystem, and there is currently no company that is better suited to lead this evolution than Volt.”

She added: “I couldn’t be more excited to join Volt, to help it realise its immense potential, grow the value and power of its brand, and help the company expand into new markets.”

Tom Greenwood, the founder and chief executive officer of Volt, commented: “Irina’s experience in payments and marketing is second to none and I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome her to the team.

“Continuing to build on our global vision is a primary objective. Irina’s international experience will play a crucial role in ensuring our success.”
